"THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT" "Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;" ( 2 Corinthians 7:6)In this verse, Paul declares the Truth of God's promise to comfort those who are cast down. The reason Paul can say that is because he gives his own testimony that he himself had been comforted by God when he was cast down. If you were to look back at verse 5, Paul wrote, "For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears." Just before he said that, he wrote in verse 4, "I am filled with comfort." Folks, when those inspired Words are hidden in our hearts, you and I can go on with confidence knowing that our Lord promises to not only comfort us, but we too will be filled with comfort as well when we are cast down. Yes, God promises to comfort us and God always makes good on whatever He promises! If God promises something and it doesn't come to pass or come true, then that promise would be a lie, and we all know it's impossible for God to lie (Titus 1:2).Over and over in Scripture we are reminded that it is precisely those who are cast down will be lifted up by God's comforting presence. He takes great delight in extending His tender hand to those who are hurting. We can rest assured that God will comfort us when we are spiritually cast down and will lift us up with His all-sufficient grace.Are you cast down today? Are you hurting today? Are you troubled on every side with those fighting's without and those fears within? So was Paul. But notice again the very first word that Paul wrote in that verse I posted above. He said, "Nevertheless" That word "Nevertheless" wasn't put there just to take up space. Therefore friends, whatever you're going through and whatever you're up against, "Nevertheless", God is there to comfort you!
