After a day on Brancaster Beach in North Norfolk, England, Linda Seward (Cloud Appreciation Society Member 48,760) decided it was time to leave when these clouds started coming in. Despite their stormy appearance, these are in fact innocuous Stratocumulus clouds. It’s the contrast between the dark undersides of the clouds and the brightly lit ground that makes them appear more threatening than they are. In other words, these clouds are all talk, no trousers. Even though they’ll likely produce no rain and little wind, most people would call it a day at the beach beneath such darkened skies. The Sun seemed to come out just to highlight the gate and the road, Linda told us, as if suggesting it was time to head home.
