AK Houchen Questions About Haiti.Hispaniola is one island with two nations and shared resources. When earthquakes hit they don’t just affect Haiti. The Dominican Republic is also damaged. So why is Haiti still worse off than D.R.? And don’t give me the “western colonization” excuse. The Dominican Republic was colonized too. Taiwan was colonized, has fewer natural resources, yet has a much higher per-person income than mainland China. Colonialism is not the problem so what is? I believe it’s culture. It’s for the Haitian people to work out. We’re not helping by extending TPS. Send them home. There’s no patent on free market capitalism. Any country is free to give it a try. I think it’s the best path for Haiti, but ultimately it’s up to them to figure it out. Just my two cents worth.
