Keep Your Flesh in Subjection "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…" — 1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV) The Christian life is not about letting our feelings lead us. It is about bringing our flesh into subjection to the Word of God. Paul did not say someone else would do this for him. He said, "I keep under my body." Every believer has the responsibility, by God's grace, to deny sinful desires and submit to Christ. If we do not rule our flesh, our flesh will rule us. The world says, "Follow your heart." God says, "Bring your body into subjection." The flesh craves sin, but the Spirit leads us in righteousness. Paul also warned that it is possible to preach to others while failing to govern ourselves. A faithful testimony begins with personal obedience. Before we lead others, we must first allow Christ to rule our own lives.Today, ask yourself: Who is in control—Christ or your flesh? "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." — Proverbs 25:28 (KJV) May God give us the grace to keep our flesh in subjection and our lives surrendered to Him.
