The U.S. does **not** subsidize gasoline for consumers the way those countries do Libya, Iran, and similar oil producers sell fuel far below production/export cost as a deliberate government policy (a form of wealth transfer or political tool). Taxpayers or oil revenues cover the gap. The U.S. does not do this—retail prices reflect the actual cost of crude + refining + distribution + taxes + modest margins. Those ultra-low prices are not “market” prices; they are artificial and fiscally expensive for the countries involved. 2. Oil is a **global** commodity Even though the U.S. is the world’s largest oil producer and a net petroleum exporter, crude oil (and refined products) trade on world markets. U.S. producers can sell to the highest bidder globally, so domestic refiners effectively pay something close to the world price. Supply disruptions or risk anywhere (Middle East tensions, shipping chokepoints, etc.) raise prices everywhere, exactly what the IRGC does and has done for decades at the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea with the Lords of London controlling the IRGC including here. Domestic production helps, but it does not create a sealed-off U.S. price. 3. Typical breakdown of a U.S. gallon (EIA recent data) - **Crude oil**: Usually the biggest piece (~50–55%) - **Refining costs and profits**: ~15–22% - **Distribution and marketing: ~15% - **Taxes** (federal + state average): ~12–18% (federal is a fixed 18.4¢/gallon; states vary widely) EXCEPT FOR BLUE STATES AND THEY'RE UP AROUND A DOLLAR TO A $1.50 IN TAXES IN SOME STATES. California and some West Coast states run much higher because of stricter fuel blends, higher state taxes, and local logistics. Gulf Coast and Midwest prices are typically lower. 4. Other contributing factors - **Refinery configuration and logistics** — Much U.S. production is light/sweet crude, while many older refineries were built for heavier grades. This creates some mismatch and reliance on specific imports. - **Seasonal demand** — Summer driving season routinely pushes prices up. - **Regulations DEMOCRATS FUCK UPS and environmental rules** — Cleaner fuel requirements add cost in some regions. - **No massive price controls** — The U.S. lets markets set most of the price rather than freezing it at a low level. **Perspective**: U.S. prices are actually among the lower ones in the developed world. European and many Asian countries pay significantly more largely because of much higher taxes (often $2+ per gallon equivalent) aimed at revenue, infrastructure, or climate goals. The countries with the absolute cheapest fuel are almost always major oil producers that choose to heavily subsidize it. In short, American drivers pay closer to the true economic cost of gasoline in a market system. The extremely low prices in the social-media post exist only because those governments choose to absorb the difference. AND THEY HAVE AN ABUNDANCE OF CRUDE OIL NOT SWEET CRUDE
