Personally, I have made some big mistakes in my life just like most of you have. Most of these bad decisions were made because I was immature, ignorant, selfish, over emotional, angry, lazy, vengeful and/or deceitful and when I supposedly became an adult, I thought I knew better and didn’t need advice from anyone. Typical sophomoric arrogance, I felt I was now old enough to make my own decisions and I could do whatever I wanted to do. I shouldn’t call them mistakes; they were deliberate and stupid. I had to learn good character the hard way because I ignored the good advice from my parents. My poor judgement and bad decisions cost me a chance at a much brighter future in life and a great deal of true happiness, not to mention an awful lot of wasted time and money. It took me a long time to realize that I didn’t like who I had become. I had to re-learn how to make good decisions in a world of inherent danger and pitfalls.

It takes a lot of guts to admit it, and to change it.
