Pleasant Productions Apparently… a group of relatives of 9/11 victims has launched a petition asking that Mayor Mamdani not be invited to, or participate in, the official Ground Zero memorial ceremony. According to the organizers, the petition has been signed by family members of victims and thousands of additional supporters. They argue that Mamdani’s past statements, his refusal to unequivocally condemn the slogan globalize the intifada, and some of his associations make his attendance inappropriate for an event honoring those killed on September 11. The petition also cites writings by his father, Mahmood Mamdani, and the mayor’s past comments about U.S. foreign policy after 9/11. Mamdani’s office has indicated that he still intends to attend the ceremony to honor the victims, their families, and first responders.
