“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21
Notice the words: He took—We receive.
Jesus took our sin, bore our judgment, and died the death we deserved. We did not help Him pay the price. He finished the work completely upon the cross.
What must we do? Receive Him.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” — John 1:12
Salvation is not something we earn, achieve, or deserve.
It is not found in baptism, good works, religious ceremonies, or church membership. A church can preach the Gospel, but a church cannot save your soul. Salvation is of the Lord and must be personally received by faith.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9
He took what belonged to us—sin, judgment, and death. By faith, we receive what belongs to Him—righteousness, grace, and eternal life.
You cannot earn a gift.
You can only receive it.
Have you received Jesus Christ?
