Guard the Source“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” — Proverbs 4:23 (KJV) Our words, actions, and habits do not appear from nowhere. They flow from what we have allowed to settle and grow within our hearts. A wrong thought entertained today may become a wrong action tomorrow—and repeated actions soon become a way of life. Many people try to correct their outward behavior without confronting what is happening inwardly. But Jesus said, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34). The mouth reveals what the heart has been holding.That is why God commands us to guard our hearts “with all diligence.” Be careful what you watch, entertain, excuse, and continually think about. Fill your heart with God’s Word, because what controls your heart will eventually direct your life. Guard the source, and you will guard the direction of your life.
