Martin van Creveld's original quote was published in the Dutch print magazine Elsevier, in an interview conducted by journalist Ferry Biedermann. As a print publication from that era, it does not have a digital archive available online.However, the same quote is documented in an article from the British newspaper The Guardian, written by David Hirst — the paper's Middle East correspondent for over four decades (1964-2001) and author of the book The Gun and the Olive Branch, considered a reference work on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
