It has been openly discussed, researched and debated for decades.Yes ✅ The UK is funding research into potential solar geoengineering technologies, including computer modelled simulations and some potential small scale outdoor experiments with balloons.Yes ✅ Some proposed concepts involve aerosols, aircraft, ships and attempts to alter how much sunlight reaches the Earth. None of that magically turns the persistent contrail behind an airliner into geoengineering.The UK programme shown in this image is research into potential technologies. The article itself describes the experiments as small scale, subject to assessment, and intended to gather physical data about whether proposed approaches could work and what their effects might be.This distinction apparently causes immense emotional distress for some die hard chemtrail believers. For years they demanded recognition that geoengineering research exists. Now that nobody is denying it exists, they’ve simply moved the goalposts:“GEOENGINEERING EXISTS, THEREFORE EVERY PERSISTENT CONTRAIL IS GEOENGINEERING”That’s not evidence. That’s just a toddler tantrum connecting two unrelated dots with a crayon.. The existence of research into solar geoengineering does not prove that commercial aircraft are secretly spraying the population.A proposal is not deployment ❌An experiment is not a global operation ❌Geoengineering is not synonymous with cloud seeding ❌A persistent contrail does not become geoengineering because somebody on Facebook put a red circle around it ❌The UK Parliament itself has distinguished deliberate climate geoengineering from ordinary weather modification techniques and has discussed the need for research, governance and regulation before future deployment of high impact technologies.Social media misinformation survives by removing these distinctions. Everything gets thrown into one enormous conspiracy blender: contrails, cloud seeding, weather modification, patents, geoengineering research and commercial aviation. Then the resulting sludge is presented as “proof” 🤣The uncomfortable truth is much simpler:✈️ Contrails are an observed consequence of aircraft operating in suitable atmospheric conditions.🌍 Geoengineering refers to deliberate interventions intended to alter the climate system.🔬 Researching whether a technology could work is not evidence that the technology is secretly operating above your house.Some people genuinely misunderstand the difference. Others have spent so many years publicly insisting that every persistent white line is deliberate spraying that admitting they were wrong now feels harder than learning the science.
