Dealing With Inward AngerProverbs 10:18 “He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.” I have stated many times in my devotional writings my love for the book of Proverbs. In Proverbs God gives much spiritual advice for everyday practical living for the Christian. I believe our verse today shows us two ways people deal with inward anger. One, they seek to hide their hatred. People do this in many ways. I have heard that some people use a fictional identity on social media to express their hatred. Two, they spread slander. A character trait of a narcissist is if they cannot make themself look good they will try to make you look bad. Their goal is to damage your reputation. God says that the person who exhibits these traits is a fool. The word fool is used often in Proverbs to explain how easy the person being described is deceived. When inward anger is settled in one’s heart personal acceptance and accountability of their own wrongs are never present. Their deceived mindset is, “I am in this bad situation and it is so and so’s fault!” It is certain that there seems to be alot of angry people in the world today. Their outward behavior is a reflection of their inward anger. Perhaps if they read and applied the truths found in the book of Proverbs they could receive some help.
