"A blatant attempt to stir up anti-Muslim hatred and intimidate local families."
A bonfire with a replica mosque has been built in Moygashel, Co Tyrone, ahead of the Twelfth July.
A 56-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the replica mosque and was in custody, according to police.
Patrick Corrigan, Amnesty International's NI programme director, said: "This vile display is a blatant attempt to stir up anti-Muslim hatred and intimidate local families", and that "it is a crime under Northern Ireland law to distribute materials that are intended or likely to stir up racial or religious hatred or arouse fear".
Last year in Moygahel, effigies of migrants in a boat were burned as part of the 12 of July bonfires, and the burning of a replica PSNI car and an effigy of former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar took place in 2024 and 2023.
