Jesus Christ Is LordPhilippians 2:9-11“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”Imagine a day when there will be a universal acknowledgment among all people that Jesus Christ is Lord. That day is going to happen! Philippians 2:6-8 speak of the humility of Jesus Christ from His beginning of “being made in the likeness of men” unto to His obedience unto His “death of the cross”. The word “wherefore” acts as a conjunction. Because Christ willingly accepted the Father’s will, God “highly exalted” Jesus Christ and He was given a name above every name. That name is Lord. It is a title name of respect and authority and sovereignty. One day every knee and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Now obviously that does not mean that everyone will be ultimately saved, but it does mean that everyone will know who Jesus Christ is! And, it means they will acknowledge Him as Lord. The good news is there can be a present day confession for anyone that Jesus Christ is Lord. Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Anyone can be saved, when they repent of their sins and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. One can willingly make that confession now or sovereignly be made to later. Jesus Christ is Lord! He has earned the title!
