An honest report of the 4th weekend in DC from someone not paid to write this:We arrived in DC Friday and attended the wonderful fair. It was hot, but we found the fair enjoyable and very crowded. Saturday was brutally hot. The fair had such insane lines to enter that we decided to skip it and do museums and watch the military flyovers…a huge highlight!By afternoon people started lining up for the main stage area where Trump would speak (Washington Monument). When the museums closed at 5, there was a mad dash for the lines. I’ve never seen anything like it. Every street, every direction, was a shoulder-to-shoulder sea of people. It was still hot—many needed medical attention. There was moments of unrest but police or national guard responded quickly and the general vibe remained positive. Military flyovers continued with dramatic intensity, showing off our finest air war machines. It was awe inspiring. Both Air Force One and the old AF1 appeared, soaring low over the crowd. The new AF 1, with DJT on board, was spectacularly flanked with fighter jets and followed by stealth bombers. The crowd went WILD.Suddenly people started to pour out of the gates and police yelled evacuation orders due to lightning. People began to leave in droves as many spread the word it was cancelled. We followed online updates and stayed close. We were directed to shelter in government buildings. Soon an update came…the event was on! Cue repeat mad dash for the gates and the lines reformed. We were in a bit of a better position the second time. There was little organization at this point, it was intense. Police and Guard worked hard. We were packed into the streets like sardines. The crowd was excited! Did I mention it was raining?!As we neared the entrance, I could see the streets and inside the first tier of the fair grounds behind us. It was wall to wall people! There was singing and cheering to the music we could hear from inside as the projection show illuminated the Monument. As we neared the TSA check point, DJT took the stage. The crowd around us began to chant “Wait! Wait! Wait!” Though I’m sure there were people there who didn’t care for Trump, it was admittedly a MAGA rally atmosphere—the biggest one I’ve ever witnessed at that.We finally made it in…6 hours after we started lining up. We passed the packed lawn around the Monument. I’ve seen claims people sat here to avoid the president’s speech, but this crowd was cheering and engaged, watching on giant screens. This area was a better POV for fireworks and a better area for families—which comprised a great deal of the crowd. We went all the way to the stage to see Trump! When we got to the seating/grandstands, I noticed pockets of empty seats and I knew the press would have a field day! As I predicted, they have refused to show the sea of people beyond it, or acknowledge thousands still waiting outside. We enjoyed the rest of Trump’s speech (which centered on the achievements of the American people) and the most spectacular fireworks show one could imagine. The atmosphere was electric. It was worth every second of craziness that brought us there.Overall, yes there was some chaos, but the events throughout the weekend were awesome and capped off with the most incredible main event, drawing crowds that far surpassed anything mainstream media will admit. I was impressed at what Freedom 250 pulled off despite such extreme weather difficulties. We were grateful to be apart of such an incredible historic night.
