National Astronaut Day
Astronauts Chris Williams and Jessica Meir successfully completed a 7-hour, 20-minute spacewalk, concluding at 3:40 p.m. EDT on June 30, to replace a faulty wrist joint on the International Space Station's Canadarm2 robotic arm.
The repair was successful, and initial system checks confirmed the arm is powered and communicating properly. The replaced joint will return to Earth for inspection and possible refurbishment.
This marked Williams' second spacewalk, Meir's fifth, and the 280th spacewalk in support of the ISS. 👏
