Let God Change You 2 Corinthians 5:15-17 “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When we have problems, any problems, within a relationship we want a change. Usually one feels it is the other side of the relationship, “not me”, that needs to change. While the other side of the relationship needs to change, it is also true that you need to change as well. I firmly believe that change in any relationship begins when both sides change. This is very true in a marriage. You want God to change your marriage, let that change begin by allowing God to change you. Our text tells us as a Christian we are not to live unto ourself but unto Christ. Life is not about “me”. The spiritual disease I call “me-ism” is killing a lot of marriages. Life for the Christian is about living for Him who died and rose again for us. Our text also tells us that the person who is “in Christ” (that means born again) is “a new creature”. This further teaches us because we are a new creature the old things are passing away so that all things will be new. Change, that is what v. 17 is talking about! The first step to changing a failing relationship is to ask God to change yourself. How submitted to God are you to allow that change to take place?
