But remembering is just the beginning—true honor requires action. Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is looking for a dedicated, passionate leader to step up as the Volunteer Flower Captain for their event “A Flower on Every Grave (FOEG)” for the following cemeteries: Oakwood Historical Cemetery, Raleigh, NC; Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX; Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI; Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI; Western Carolian State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC; and Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, ALIf you have a VA National Cemetery close to you that isn’t mentioned above and you would like to take on the mission of Flower Captain for that cemetery step up and take command. VFV wants you and is interested in adding more in 2027 and beyond.This isn't just a volunteer role; it’s a mission of profound respect, healing, and community leadership. As a Flower Captain, you will be the driving force ensuring that our fallen heroes are never forgotten, and that their resting places are beautifully honored with roses this Memorial Day.Your Mission as a Flower CaptainAs a local leader, you will hold the keys to making this event a massive success. Your core responsibilities will include:• Secure Community Sponsors: Work to secure sponsors in the local community—from small local businesses to large corporations—who share a passion for supporting veterans, first responders, and active service members suffering from invisible wounds.• Rally the Community: Continuously get the word out about the Memorial Day event through your personal contacts and a dedicated Facebook page that VFV will set up for you.• Logistics & Care: Safely store the delivered roses arriving for the event until the day of the rose placement at your cemetery.• Coordinate with Leadership: Meet with the current cemetery Director to collaborate and agree on the perfect location to hold the event.• Lead on Memorial Day: Be present the morning of the event to speak passionately about the VFV Mission, break down the roses, and pass them out to eager volunteers.• Track the Tributes: Keep an accurate track of the number of roses shipped, those brought by independent volunteers, and get a precise count of the total volunteers present.• Strategic Placement: Assign volunteers to sections of the cemetery where families may not have loved ones interred, ensuring every single hero receives proper tribute.A Nationwide Movement for HealingBy taking the lead at one of the cemeteries mentions or stepping up with a new cemetery in your location, you are fueling a massive national movement. The ultimate goal of our Flower Captains is to increase local sponsors, scale the number of roses placed, mobilize a wave of volunteers, and pay the ultimate tribute to our fallen across the country.This vital mission helps VFV bring on additional cemeteries nationwide, spreads awareness for our nonprofit, elevates the Warriors for Life (WFL) Online Peer Support Network, and secures the sponsors needed to expand our Life Readiness Centers (LRCs) across the United States.
