When Things Don’t Go Your Way
Proverbs 3:5-7
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
Here’s a question, should we who are Christians feel we should have to have our way?
If the center of what we do and what we expect in life is “our way” then we are going to have a very disappointing and difficult life. If today you are shooting for you to have the best day ever and your wish is granted what will the next day hold? If you are not careful the next day will be disappointing if it does not topple the previous day. Life cannot be a series of each day being the best day ever. Here’s the truth- you and I are going to have days when things do not go the way we hoped for. What then?
One, trust the LORD with all your heart. When things do not go well, trust Him to help you to deal with it.
Two, never trust your own understanding. Your understanding of thinking everyday can be the best day is what makes you feel so bad on the bad days.
Three, acknowledge God in everything, in every decision, and let Him direct your paths. Things will change in His time.
Four, depart from evil. Reroute the way you’re going if that way is taking you away from God.
I wish everyday could be a good day, but in reality we all know that life is just not that way. What do you do when you have a day that does not go the way you planned?
