This man stood in Westminster Abbey, hand on the Bible, and swore the exact same coronation oath his mother kept for seventy years: to maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel, to uphold the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law, and to preserve inviolably the settlement of the Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II lived that oath every single day Defender of the Faith, no apologies, no footnotes, no “but what about the others.” She didn’t hedge. She didn’t relativise. She just did the job. And now? The palace has gone and rewritten his official role in the latest Sovereign Grant report. No longer simply “Head of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith.” Now it’s “Supreme Governor of the Church of England and protects the space for Faith within the multi faith nation.” Protector of a multi faith nation. They’ve turned the Defender of the Faith into some kind of interfaith facilities manager. Charles has been telegraphing this for thirty years back in ’94 he was already whining that he’d rather be “Defender of Faith” (plural, all of them) than Defender of the Faith. Now they’ve made it policy. It’s a total reversal of everything his mother stood strong by. Absolute disgraceful , where in the Bible does it say anything about Islam? Nowhere. Not one verse. The entire canon was finished centuries before Muhammad was born. The Bible doesn’t do “all faiths are valid paths.” It doesn’t do “let’s make room for everybody’s god in the palace.” It says, crystal clear in the Ten Commandments — Exodus 20:3 — “Thou shalt have NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.” Before Me. Not alongside Me. Not in a nice ecumenical circle holding hands with Buddha, Krishna, and whoever else. No other gods. And right after that, Exodus 20:8: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Specific. Commanded. Not optional, not interchangeable, not “whatever works for your community.” This multi faith pantomime is a direct violation of the first and most basic command God gave His people. It treats the Christian faith, the faith the British monarch is sworn to defend, as just one equal option on the shelf. It pretends Islam (which explicitly denies the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, and the crucifixion) is just another lovely flavour of “faith” that needs its “space protected.” The Bible doesn’t say that. The Church of England’s own formularies don’t say that. The coronation oath sure as hell doesn’t say that. It’s a disgrace. A calculated, weaselly disgrace. Charles took the oath. He accepted the title. He sat on the throne his mother left him. And now he’s letting the palace redefine the job so he doesn’t have to defend the Faith anymore, just “faith” in general, whatever that means this week. That’s not defending anything. That’s managing decline. That’s turning the established Church into a heritage brand while the country fills up with every other creed under the sun. If he genuinely believes his role is now to be the neutral referee in a multi faith free for all, if he can’t bring himself to be the unambiguous Defender of the Christian Faith that the law and the oath still demand, then he should do the decent thing and abdicate. Hand the crown to someone who will actually keep the promises that were made on that Bible. The monarchy’s legitimacy in this country has always been tied to the Protestant settlement and the defence of that specific faith. Dilute it into generic “faith space protection” and you’re not the Defender anymore, you’re just some another celebrity nodding along while the foundations rot. Elizabeth II never did this. She never would have. She understood the weight of the words. Charles apparently doesn’t, or doesn’t care. And that, more than anything, is the real betrayal.
