Barack Obama was asked about Donald Trump's years of attacks, his lawsuits, his "traitor" accusations. His answer: "I obviously have a room in his head. A suite in his head."Obama said it Wednesday on the All The Smoke podcast, recorded inside his newly opened presidential center on Chicago's South Side. The hosts asked how he handles Trump's fixation, the racism, the relentless naming. Obama did not take the bait. He pointed at the fixation itself. "You gotta ask him what it is. The obsession."Then he turned it into a verdict. Trump's compulsive need to talk about him, Obama said, "shows me somebody who's not focused on the American people and the job they're supposed to do."Consider the timing. In the past few months alone, Trump has called Obama a traitor, called for his arrest, accused him of plotting a coup, posted an AI video depicting the Obamas as gorillas that he later deleted, and trashed the Iran deal in interview after interview. This week his own "Secretary of War" invoked Obama's name unprompted. The sitting president cannot get through a news cycle without reaching for the man who left office nine years ago.Obama, meanwhile, said that when he held the job, "the last thing I had time to do was worry about what somebody said, or what my predecessor did. They're gone. I've got work to do."He also noted that Trump talks differently in person. "If this person was in front of me, which has happened a couple times, he don't talk like that, because he knows better."The White House proved his point within hours. Spokesman Davis Ingle fired back that Obama "will go down as one of the most dishonest, divisive, and destructive Presidents in history."A man accused Trump of being unable to stop thinking about him. Trump's office answered by issuing a statement about how much they think about him.The suite is fully booked.
