God Placed Spiritual Beings Over the Nations?
Most Christians know the story of the Tower of Babel, but many never notice what comes after it.
According to Deuteronomy 32:8-9, after humanity rebelled at Babel and God scattered the nations, He divided them according to the "sons of God"—spiritual beings entrusted with authority over the nations, while Israel remained God's special inheritance.
Over time, these rulers became corrupt. Psalm 82 shows God standing in judgment against them:
"How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked?"
Instead of leading the nations toward righteousness, they allowed corruption, injustice, and false worship to spread throughout the earth.
God's response?
"Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men..." (Psalm 82:6-7 KJV)
This isn't a story of competing gods. It is a story of created spiritual beings who rebelled against the authority of the One True God.
What's fascinating is what happens next in the biblical timeline. Right after Babel, God calls Abraham. Through Abraham comes Israel. Through Israel comes Jesus Christ.
The mission of Christ was never just about saving individuals. It was about reclaiming the nations.
When Jesus said:
"All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth" (Matthew 28:18 KJV),
He declared His authority over every earthly kingdom and every spiritual power.
The Gospel is God's answer to Babel.
The nations were scattered, but through Christ they are being gathered back to their rightful King.
🔥 One day every nation, every ruler, every throne, and every spiritual power will bow before Jesus Christ.
"The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." — Revelation 11:15 KJV
