CAIAPHAS HAD RELIGION... BUT HE REJECTED THE MESSIAH.
One of the most sobering truths in Scripture is that Jesus wasn't rejected by atheists, pagans, or unbelievers.
He was rejected by many of the religious leaders.
Caiaphas was the High Priest of Israel. He knew the Scriptures. He knew the prophecies. Yet when Jesus stood before him and declared, "I AM," Caiaphas chose power over truth.
The miracles weren't the problem.
The teachings weren't the problem.
The real problem was that Jesus threatened the religious system they had built.
Sometimes the greatest danger is not unbelief.
Sometimes it is becoming so committed to our traditions, positions, and opinions that we stop listening to God.
The lesson of Caiaphas is still relevant today:
A person can be very religious and still miss Jesus.
Let's make sure we follow Christ above tradition, truth above pride, and God above our own agendas.
