WHEN FACTS GO AGAINST MAGA POLICIES.. YOU GET RID OF THE SCIENCE/FACTSA $386 million network of ocean science is being pulled out of the water — and lawmakers say the agency doing it just broke the law.On June 15, a bipartisan group of senators and two Democratic-led House committees fired off letters to the National Science Foundation demanding it reverse course. The target: the Ocean Observatories Initiative, a network of more than 900 sensors built over years at a cost of $386 million to monitor the seas off Oregon, Washington, Alaska, North Carolina, and Greenland. The NSF has directed that most of those instruments be ripped out by 2027.Here's the part that has House lawmakers calling it illegal. Federal appropriations law requires the NSF to give Congress's Appropriations Committees 30 days' notice before decommissioning any agency asset worth more than $2.5 million. According to the lawmakers, no such notice was ever sent. The instruments simply got marked for removal. These sensors track ocean temperatures, currents, and the chemistry of a warming planet in real time — the kind of data that fuels climate research, storm forecasting, and fisheries science. Gut the network, and that stream of information goes dark, possibly for good. For now, this is a fight, not a finish. The letters demand a reversal, but the dismantling order still stands and the outcome is unresolved. The question is whether an agency can quietly tear out hundreds of millions in public science infrastructure without telling the people who funded it.

Time you just contradicted yourself. NSF is pulling the sensors on their own. Not by congressional mandate. You really need to research your shit posts.
