"FOR HE CARETH FOR YOU""Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (1 Peter 5:7)There are a great many people who appreciate this verse, but very few who appropriate it. All of us are acquainted with those individuals who are bent on rambling on about their own problems rather than the Lord's promises. It seems that some folks enjoy embalming all of their problems and troubles for a later viewing when we happen to pass their way. When you see them and ask, "How are you doing today?", all of a sudden, they open up the lid on that old casket of woes and with a mournful wail cry out, "You just wouldn't believe all that I'm going through right now!" To be sure, problems are coming, and for many of us they're already at hand. But I say, let problems come. Yes, let problems come if they will but drive us nearer to God!Now ask yourself, wouldn't it be better to pray and ask the Lord each day and let Him bear all your cares; or is it your habit to just go through the same old same old everyday bearing them yourself? Wow, that's nothing but living daily in a rut of premature death, and as someone once said, "Living in a rut is like living in a grave with both ends knocked out."For many of us who love the old Book, we have indeed a place of refuge, a safe haven if you will, when the storms of life blow and howl around us. We will always, without fail, find in the pages of God's Word that all of His promises are as sweet and as fresh for you and me today as the day they were first believed by those old saints found throughout the Scriptures.Friends, when problems and the cares of this world approach, AND THEY WILL, and those nasty-looking black clouds of worries and cares seem ready to swoop down and carry us away, remember those calming words, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
