Where Do you Set Your Affection ?Colossians 3:1-2 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” The phrase “set your affection” means to be one minded about a thing. The thing we are to be one minded about is heavenly, upward, or “things above”. When a Christian’s heart is set on the things above he or she will seek those things which are above. The opposite of this would be the person who is one minded toward the world and the things of this world. If your heart is set on the things of this world then that is what you will seek after. This verse starts out with the word “if”. This is a word of condition. “If ye then be risen with Christ…” or if you are born again. What is presented here about seeking the things above and setting your heart on the things above is presumably for the one who is born again. If you are saved set your heart on heavenly things and seek them. This world is not the home of the Christian, Heaven is!
