IF THE TRUTH OFFENDS YOU...Most people do not mind the truth until the truth points at them. The Pharisees heard the truth, but instead of repenting, they were offended. The rich young ruler heard the truth, but walked away sorrowful. Truth has a way of exposing what pride tries to hide.Jesus asked: "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46 KJV)When God's Word convicts us, our first response should not be to argue with the truth, soften the truth, or blame the messenger. Our response should be to examine our own heart. The problem is rarely that God's Word is wrong. The problem is often that God's Word has revealed something we do not want to face. Before rejecting the truth, ask yourself: "What is God trying to show me?” Truth wounds before it heals. Conviction comes before correction. Humility comes before restoration.Examine your heart — not the truth.
