"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21 The Gospel is not about what we do for God. It is about what God did for us through His Son. Jesus was the only One who could do what this verse describes. He knew no sin. He committed no sin. He was perfectly righteous. Yet at Calvary, He willingly took upon Himself the judgment that belonged to us. "He hath made him to be sin for us…” No church could do that. No preacher could do that. No religion could do that. No amount of good works could do that.Only Jesus could bear our sins and satisfy the justice of God.And because of His finished work, God offers something we could never earn: "the righteousness of God in him."Our righteousness is not found in our goodness, our efforts, or our religious performance. It is found in Christ alone. He took what was ours—sin. He gives what is His—righteousness. Salvation is not achieved; it is received.Calvary was not merely an example of love. It was the place where the Son of God became sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
