Kit Beuret (Cloud Appreciation Society Member 63,425) spotted the ice-crystal locks spreading out over him at the top of a huge, distant Cumulonimbus capillatus cloud glowing gold in the evening light over Fort Collins, Colorado, US. Towering Cumulus congestus built up in the foreground. The clouds’ gilded appearance may have made them look calm and inviting, but Cumulonimbus are storm clouds. As Kit notes, ‘Glorious golden Cumulonimbus clouds do not necessarily imply a glorious day lies ahead.’
