PETA euthanized about 67% of the animals it took in during 2024, while spending only about 0.17% of its total expenses on animal shelters and animal-related groups. According to their own shelter records, PETA took in 3,317 animals in 2024 and euthanized 2,213 of them. They adopted out 63. That is a brutal number for an organization that raises money under the name “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.”The 0.17% number comes directly from PETA’s own FY2024 tax filing. PETA reported $71.3 million in total expenses, but the listed domestic grants to outside animal-related groups added up to about $120,761. That is less than 1%. Hunters spend millions of their own money to improve habitat, monitor populations, and provide a long natural life for animals. Who is really the group that is supporting the ethical treatment of animals with their actions?— Stephen ZieglerOutdoor writer | Owner, DeLong Lures
