Of all the so called patriots why do so few actually do the work of voting.
Of Georgia’s 7.36 million registered voters a mere 14% (1.03 million) participated (early voters included) in yesterday’s election. Of those 585 thousand voted with Democratic ballots and 430 thousand voted with Republican ballots. Only 16 thousand people voted with Non-Partisan ballots.
One of the most interesting election results was how many Democrats voted for ex-Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for Georgia Governor. Her disastrous term as mayor saw a significant spike in violent crime, and the city's police department experienced rapid staff departures and sinking morale, which drew heavy criticism from both sides of the aisle. She faced an embarrassing major political headache when residents of Buckhead attempted to secede from the city, driven by frustration over rising crime and her leadership. She was and still is criticized for being inattentive to specific local issues such as housing and transit along the Atlanta Beltline all of which contributed to her decision to not seek reelection in 2021.
Bottoms' victory in yesterday's primary nearly assures that Georgia’s next Governor will be either Lt. Gov. Burt Jones or healthcare businessman Rick Jackson come November.
