Because if he bombs Iran again, Iran will obliterate the energy infrastructure of the Gulf States. Their oil production infrastructure will be totally destroyed and not a drop of oil will come out of the Persian Gulf, and the economies of countries like Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, India and South East Asia will be totally wrecked. Countries like the UAE will cease to exist. The desalination plants will be destroyed and with summer temperatures of 55 degrees celcius and suffocating humidity, the country will be uninhabitable. Iran can also bring the world’s communications and financial markets to its knees. Beneath the Strait of Hormuz lie underwater cables carrying much of the internet traffic which not only serves the Middle East but also countries far beyond. Imagine what happens if those cables are cut! To put it bluntly, Trump has no room to go up the escalatory ladder against Iran. Despite all his boasts, he has no military options.
