Detective Mark Fuhrman died on May 12, 2026, at the age of 74.
He passed away in Kootenai County, Idaho (where he had been living), from an aggressive form of throat cancer. Some reports note he was diagnosed in the previous year, stopped treatment after a short hospital stay, and his death was publicly confirmed and reported around May 18, 2026.
Fuhrman is best known as the LAPD detective who discovered key evidence (including the bloody glove) in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. His credibility was severely damaged during O.J. Simpson’s 1995 criminal trial due to revelations of past racist language on audiotapes and his perjury conviction related to testimony about that. He later worked as an author, commentator, and consultant on other cases.
