“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” — 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
Most Christians never wake up one morning and decide to ruin their walk with God.
Defeat usually enters quietly.
A hobby becomes an obsession.
Overtime becomes more important than church.
Vacations replace faithfulness.
Sports consume weekends.
Phones steal prayer time.
Entertainment slowly replaces the Bible.
None of these things may seem sinful by themselves, but Satan does not always destroy a man with wickedness — many times he simply distracts him with “harmless” things until God is no longer first.
Little by little, spiritual hunger disappears, convictions weaken, Bible reading fades, and prayer becomes cold. What once was only a distraction eventually becomes defeat.
The devil understands something many Christians ignore: a distracted believer is already weakened. He does not need you drunk, immoral, or sitting in jail if he can simply keep your mind busy with everything except God.
Martha was “careful and troubled about many things,” while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet. One chose fellowship with Christ while the other was consumed with activity.
This generation is drowning in noise, schedules, notifications, hobbies, and pleasures — yet starving spiritually. Be careful what is stealing your attention, because whatever constantly pulls you away from God will eventually pull you down spiritually.
