Georgia Power is using eminent domain, the government’s power to forcibly take private property, to seize land from over 330 homeowners in Coweta County, Georgia. This land seizure is reportedly to build massive high-voltage power lines for a giant AI data center called Project Sail, an 829-acre campus that needs an enormous amount of electricity.
A woman named Ansley Brown went viral on TikTok after revealing her mom was given just 3 months to leave the family home they’d owned for over 20 years.
She says TikTok tried to silence her videos about it.
Georgia Power says they’ll try to negotiate first, but if homeowners say no, they can still legally take the land anyway. An attorney confirmed that even though these power lines are really being built to benefit big tech companies instead of the average resident, that doesn’t matter under current law.
At least 16 major data center projects were blocked or delayed in 2025 due to community opposition. Environmental groups warn that fossil fuel reliance is increasing, and advocates are pushing for data centers to fund their own dedicated power infrastructure rather than relying on public grids.
Regular families are losing their homes so AI companies can keep the lights on in their data centers. And people are saying if it can happen in Georgia, it can happen anywhere.
