Entangled In Life’s Affairs 2 Timothy 2:4 “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” Some years ago a friend invited me to go fishing with him. We were in his boat and he had taken me to a river. While moving up the river we saw a buck deer entangled in some brush and was struggling to get free and up the steep embankment. An otherwise strong buck was entangled and was in danger. True Christians today are in a spiritual war with Satan and the evils of this world. Allowing yourself to get entangled with the affairs of this life not only makes you more vulnerable to the enemies of the church, it also keeps us distracted and slows down our progress for the Lord’s work. Christians need to heed this warning. It is so easy for any one of us to get entangled with the affairs of this life that do not have an eternal weight towards the things of God. By the way, that buck deer finally got himself detangled and up the bank. But sadly, many Christians never get loosed from the entanglements of this life. Because of being entangled with the affairs of this life they are not reaching the full potential of the will of God for their life.
