Sometimes survival looks like simply setting your jaw and pressing on faithfully trusting that God is present, even when circumstances say otherwise. Choosing joy through hope instead of despair, choosing patience in affliction, and choosing faithfulness in prayer. These are acts of the will. They reflect a deep trust in the God who raised Jesus from the dead, the God who hears us and loves us, and who is able to change what we cannot. When Jesus lay in the tomb, everything seemed to say God was silent, that He had abandoned His Son. But we now know the truth: in that silence, victory was unfolding. Sin, death, and hell were being defeated. So as we remain joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer, let’s also stay confident. God is still at work, even when He seems silent.
