Someone reading this today…
feels like the waves just keep coming.
One after another…
relentless… exhausting… overwhelming.
And maybe… you haven’t said it out loud…
but somewhere deep down you’ve wondered:
👉 “Where is God in all of this?”
If that’s you…
this one is for you.
🌊 WHERE DOES THE LOVE OF GOD GO?
Fifty years ago, Gordon Lightfoot asked one of the most haunting questions ever written in his song “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”:
“Does anyone know where the love of God goes
when the waves turn the minutes to hours?”
And if you’ve ever been in a real storm…
👉 you understand that question.
Because minutes do feel like hours
when you’re hurting… waiting… barely holding on.
I’ve been there.
And maybe today…
👉 you are too.
👉 But hear me clearly…
the love of God goes nowhere.
👉 Sometimes… it’s just hidden behind the waves.
Nevertheless, the Apostle Paul reminds us:
📖 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come…
nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
— Romans 8:38–39 (KJV)
“Does anyone know where the love of God goes?”
You’re not the first to ask.
📖 “Art thou He that should come, or do we look for another?”
— Matthew 11:3
John the Baptist asked.
Moses asked.
David asked.
Jonah asked.
👉 And yes… I’ve asked it too.
But thank God…
👉 the answer has never changed.
The love of God goes nowhere.
Even when the waves rise.
Even when the storm lingers.
Even when the minutes feel like hours…
👉 His love remains.
Unshaken.
Unmoved.
Unbreakable.
The waves may block your view…
but they cannot move His presence.
The storm may shake your footing…
but it cannot shake His promise.
Because His love…
👉 is not tied to your circumstances.
It’s anchored in His character.
📖 “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
— Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)
👉 I can see it…
standing on a dark shoreline…
winds howling… waves crashing…
the kind that hit so hard
they take your breath away.
You can’t see the horizon anymore.
You can’t tell where the sky ends
and the water begins.
And for a moment…
👉 everything feels out of control.
But even there…
👉 the tide still answers to Him.
The same God who set the boundaries of the sea
is still holding the line…
even when you can’t see it.
even when you don’t feel it.
even when everything in you is asking why.
👉 The waves may be loud… but they don’t get the final word.
And that changes everything.
Because when you finally realize…
👉 the love of God never left you…
you don’t just survive the storm—
👉 sometimes… you start to dance in it.
Not because the storm is gone…
👉 but because you know He is still there.
So if the waves feel overwhelming today…
don’t measure God’s love
by what you see around you.
👉 Measure it by the cross.
Because the cross settled that question forever.
And remember…
the same love that held you yesterday…
👉 is holding you right now.
And it will still be there tomorrow.
👉 If this spoke to your heart today…
consider sharing it.
You never know who is quietly asking that same question.
👉 And if you’re one of the ones who needed this…

God bless you all.
