John 19:30 (KJV) — “…It is finished…”Most people live on the left side of that cross—trying, doing, fixing, working—always feeling like it’s not enough. That’s religion: a life spent carrying a weight God never asked you to carry. But when Jesus Christ cried, “It is finished,” He didn’t mean partially done—He meant the full payment for sin was completed. The debt wasn’t reduced, it was paid. The work wasn’t started, it was finished. You don’t add to that—you either believe it or you reject it. The gospel calls you to stop striving and start trusting. Not trust in yourself, not trust in your goodness—but trust in His finished work. Religion says, “Do more.” Christ says, “It is finished.” That’s the dividing line. One leaves you burdened, the other sets you free. The question is simple and serious: are you still trying to earn what Jesus already paid for, or have you rested in Him?
