Kim Guilfoyle (Member 49,418) watched these Cirrus clouds while attending a senior aerobics class in Ukiah, California, US. The fanning plumes of ice crystals likely resulted from all the droplets in high patches of Altocumulus freezing and starting to fall as ice crystals. Cirrus that has developed from Altocumulus like this goes by the snappy name of Cirrus altocumulogenitus. Kim thought they looked like dandelion puffs. Make a wish and blow!
