Following Jesus & Fishing For Men Mark 1:16-18 “Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.” Simon Peter and Andrew were professional fishermen. It was what they did to make a living, pay their bills, and survive. When Jesus called, “they forsook their nets, and followed Him”. Jesus called them to follow Him so He could make of them “fishers of men”. Jesus said, the way to fish for men was to “come ye after me”. In a literal sense this means to walk directly behind. It pictures the old children’s game of follow the leader. Though winning souls is not a game, it is made simple by just following our Leader Jesus Christ. The word Christian means Christlike. To be a Christian should mean that everything about our life should be done to resemble Jesus Christ. We who are saved should desire to see more people saved. May we all follow Him that we might be fishers of men!
