Faith
John 20:28-29
“And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
Thomas said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Thomas saw what he needed to see, but Jesus reminds us all that the real blessing comes when we do not see and yet believe anyway that He is our Lord and our God. Hebrews 11:1 gives us the definition of true faith; “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
True faith gives us substance and evidence of God and the things of God. Some, like Thomas say in reference to God, if I could see then I would believe. They need to see the evidence in order to believe. True faith gives the evidence though you do not see.
What kind of faith do you have?
