"OUR SUPPLIER OF LIFE AND LIGHT" "For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light." (Psalm 36:9)Many a time in Christian circles, the counsel of well meaning people has failed in supplying the answer for a pressing decision someone is facing. Human correction for those who sense a coldness in their walk with the Lord doesn't ignite a fire of a revived spirit. Even a word of comfort from a kind brother or sister in Christ seems empty to that grieving soul which is hurting beyond words.Why does our gracious God sometimes permit that to happen? May I suggest to you that perhaps it is because we have been living here and there, hit and miss, on again off again, in our relationship with Him and He therefore takes away the worth of everything we hold dear and the words of everyone we hopefully depend on so that He, our ever caring God of all counsel, correction, and comfort, might lovingly draw us even closer to Himself.What a blessing it is to know that the One, Who is our Fountain of Life, will forever provide that satisfying Water of His Word which quenches our thirst for those much needed answers to our needs.When our earthly bottles are full, we're content. But then one day like Hagar and Ishmael, when driven into some wilderness, they soon run dry. Oh, it's only then that that which will serve us well are those words, "Thou God seest me."Think about that prodigal son, while living afar, preferred the swine troughs over his father's table. But when he came to himself and fessed up to his rotten and rebellious lifestyle, he made a mad dash for home and saw his Daddy running toward him with open arms ready to restore and replenish.Many times our Lord brings about a drought in our lives which causes us to seek Him more than ever before. Ah, then He comes to our side and we see the emptiness of all we've endeavored without Him, and our hearts are made glad again when we remember those Words, "...as having nothing, and yet possessing all things." (2 Corinthians 6:10c)Friends, the Lord is our only sure Supplier of Life and Light as the Psalmist cried out, "For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light."
