The WaitGenesis 21:5 “And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.” It was in Genesis 12:5 that God tells us that Abraham was 75 when He promised Abraham that in him, through his seed, all the nations would be blessed. In Genesis 17, God reaffirmed His promise that Abraham would be the father of many nations. Imagine the thoughts that ran through Abraham’s mind as he and Sarah waited for the fulfillment of God’s promise. We know from written fact that they got impatient during their time of waiting on God and the episode with Hagar and the birth of Ishmael is one in which the pain is still felt today. When we pray and God does not give us a quick answer what else can we do but wait. But may we remember Who we are waiting on. We are waiting on God who is always faithful! It is during the wait that our faith is tested. With Abraham it was waiting on God to fulfill His promise. Sometimes we are praying and we are seeking direction from God. If the answer we are seeking from God is either a yes or no, the wait is still a test of our faith. Perhaps today finds you in a time of waiting in prayer. As you wait on God remember to allow Him the privilege of growing your faith. You are waiting on God and His answer and His timing is always perfect. And the time waiting on Him is never wasted time.
