35. And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.Luke 9:35. Jesus, during His teaching, tells His disciples that some hearing will not physically die before they see the kingdom of God. A few days later, Jesus is transfigured on a mountain in front of Peter, James, and John, where Moses and Elijah appear, speaking to Jesus. Peter recognized them, never having met them before. Their appearance is a picture of Christ being fully God and fully man. Moses represented the Law, and Elijah the prophets. Almighty God speaks from heaven, confirming the work of Jesus, calling Jesus His Son, and giving a command to all to hear Him, meaning we are not just to hear Jesus, but we are obligated to obey and follow Him, not Moses or Elijah. Christ has fulfilled all the law represented by Moses and the Prophets. It is not enough just to hear the words of Jesus; we must put them into action. Amen.
