2. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.Luke 9:2. Jesus called His 12 closest disciples to Him to preach the Gospel of the kingdom of God. And to prove to those who would listen that the power and authority they received came from God, they received power over devils and healing gifts that followed their preaching. They were not to take money, food, or extra clothes, but to rely on God for everything they needed. They were not to go from house to house to seek a more comfortable residence. And when they were refused, Jesus said to shake the very dust off their feet as a testimony against them. Easter has passed; most will put Jesus away until next year. Some have gotten close to Jesus and feel the call to spread His Gospel message. Everything we do for Christ has been given by Almighty God. It takes a lifetime commitment, not in one day, out the next. Jesus gave everything He had; He held nothing back, so half measures will not be honored. Keep yourself close to Jesus. He sent 12 out with power and grace, and one of them turned evil, submitting to the cares of this world. Praying for strength and guidance is the key. Amen.
