The fish symbol used by early Christians is called the Ichthys. In Greek it spells ΙΧΘΥΣ (Ichthys), meaning “fish,” but the letters also form an acronym: Iēsous - Jesus Christos - Christ Theou Huios - Son of God Sōtēr - Savior.
