A business in Providence wanted to memorialize Iryna Zarutska, a 23 year old refugee whose life was stolen in a horrifying act of violence by a man who shouldn’t have even been on the streets. Now Providence Mayor Brett Smiley wants that mural taken down.
When Democrat leadership is confronted with the human cost of their policies, they do not correct the policies, confront the failure, or defend the innocent. They try to shut down the reminder. Smiley says the mural is “divisive.” No, Mayor the murder was divisive. The failure to protect innocent people was divisive. The instinct to erase the memorial instead of face the truth is what tells people everything they need to know.
Sign the Rhode Island Young Republicans petition at EMAILMAYORSMILEY.COM and tell Smiley to leave Iryna’s memorial alone.
