We mourn the passing of World War II veteran Gilbert “Choc” Charleston — a proud Choctaw warrior and American hero — who passed away at the age of 101.
During World War II, Charleston served as a tank driver with the 739th Tank Battalion, advancing across Europe through France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.
He endured the brutal winter of the Battle of the Bulge — one of the most grueling and decisive campaigns of the war — where courage, resilience, and sacrifice defined a generation.
Through it all, he served with honor and unwavering determination.
Gilbert “Choc” Charleston leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, strength, and deep love for his country.
We honor his service. We remember his sacrifice.
God bless this American hero.
