7. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.Luke 2:7. Luke makes this magnificent event sound simple. Mary brings forth her firstborn, Jesus, the Savior of all who will believe. In poverty and alone, Jesus comes to the world, not just to rulers and the wealthy. There was no room at the inn for Jesus, nor did the world accept Him. The only room they made for Him was on a cross, as the murdered Son of the Living God. It is today 13 days till Easter, but there can be no Easter without Christmas, to understand that Almighty God sent His Son to die in our place and arise from death, never to experience it again. And after Christ's resurrection, we can make room in our hearts for Christ, follow His word and steps, and reap the promise of eternal life promised in the Gospel. For without Christ the Lord, none shall enter heaven. The shepherds were told first of the good tidings of great joy—Christ the Lord is born this day—by an angel, then a multitude of the heavenly host began praising God. Amen.
